Declaration of Inclusion

Text of declaration:

The City of Saint Albans condemns racism and welcomes people of all ages, citizenships, colors, disabilities, gender identities or expressions, national origins, races, religions (including nonreligious), sexes, sexual orientations, sizes, and other classifications. We want everyone to feel safe and welcome in our community.

As a community, we formally condemn all discrimination in all of its forms, commit to fair and equal treatment of everyone in our community, and will strive to ensure all of our actions, policies, and operating procedures reflect this commitment. We further commit to doing a better job of tackling our own biases, both implicit and explicit, and trying to elevate voices and people who have not traditionally been heard or valued. We recognize that these discussions will be hard and will expose many of our own prejudices. Our goal is to excise these from the City, both as individuals, and as a municipality.

The City of Saint Albans will continue to strive to be a place where individuals can live freely and feel like they have the opportunity to be valued and belong.
