Position: Pre-Trial Service, Tamarack & DLS Coordinator

Full time 40 hours with benefits

 

Description: Come join a collaborative team as FGIRJC’s Pretrial Service, Tamarack & DLS Coordinator! This position will offer risk assessments and needs screenings at all pretrial points in the justice system, monitor and support those who are referred by the Court and provide intervention and support to those referred by the State's Attorney. Coordinators work with people who are cited, charged, or arrested for whom the underlying cause of the criminal behavior is believed to be substance use or mental health related. The Pretrial Service, Tamarack & DLS Coordinator will rapidly connect individuals to treatment providers and other community-basedservices as well as support clients as they fulfill their obligations. This position will also work with individuals who are referred by the State’s Attorney to get their license reinstated through the DLS program. Responsibilities:

 

·             Conduct intake interviews with clients

·             Conduct mental health and substance use screenings as required by the program(s), including in facility screenings

  •          Prioritize participants' substance use and mental health needs
  •          Connect participants to supportive services
  •          Communicate with treatment and service providers to coordinate care
  •          Coordinate participants' care for at least90-days
  •          Communicate with the Vermont Judicial Bureau (VJB) and The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) on behalf of the participant
  •          Meet with participants to support them in their requirements of driver’s license reinstatement
  •          Create a plan/contract for follow through of reinstatement
  •          Maintain regular contact with each participant to document progress on their contract/plan
  •          Create motions that need to be sent to the VJB to help support participants in opportunities for any cost reductions in tickets and fines as well as collect             needed fees.
  •          Collect, enter, and share data as required
  •          Work collaboratively with team members and agency partners
  •          Protect participant confidentiality
  •          Attend trainings as requested
  •          Other duties as assigned by supervisor

·            Coordinate and carryout a Restorative process

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  •          Human Services, case management, Criminal Justice, or related experience
  •          Understanding and knowledge in the areas of substance use, domestic violence, poverty, crime, and other challenges
  •          Knowledge of community resources and the ability to make appropriate referrals
  •          Patience, reliability, good judgment, respect for diversity, and excellent communication skills; both verbally and in writing
  •          Remains calm in the presence of strong emotions from others while creating an atmosphere for problem solving
  •          Strong time management, record keeping and computerskills
  •          Well-developed sense of professional and personalboundaries
  •          Demonstrated high level of organization and self-motivation
  •          Ability to lead well and listen, be a positive contributing member of a team
  •          Ability to display a high level of professionalism at all times
  •          Ability to work with diverse populations
  •          Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  •          Must successfully pass a background check
