How do I obtain a Burn Permit?

The City of St. Albans Fire Dept. will issue burn permits Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. To secure a burn permit, please send your request to Kristen Smith at k.smith@stalbansvt.com during weekday business hours. Please include your full name, address and the date(s) you wish to burn. Burn permits will not be granted if winds are expected to exceed 8 mph.  Please note that burning piles of leaves will not be permitted.  Leaves should be composted.

How often do rental units need to be inspected?

Every four (4) years an inspection for each residential dwelling unit is required. A certificate of habitability will be issued based on the results of said inspection, as appropriate. 

Does the Fire Department service or inspect fire extinguishers?

No, this service is done by a certified technician.
