Notice of Vacancy - St. Albans City Design Advisory Board

The St. Albans City Council is seeking community members interested in a unique opportunity to guide the look and feel of our City.  The Design Advisory Board (DAB) is being reinstated as a separate board, and all seats are currently open.  As one of the City’s volunteer boards, the DAB plays an important role in the permitting process and provides special opinions on the architecture and aesthetics of proposed development in the City's Design Review Districts.  This board advises the Zoning Administrator and Development Review Board.  City residency is not required.

The City Council is looking for candidates familiar with the challenges of pursuing redevelopment in a dense urban area while maintaining historic character.  The DAB will meet on a monthly basis at City Hall, most likely during the evening.  During these meetings, DAB members will hear proposals from permit applicants and provide recommendations in a collaborative atmosphere.

If you are looking to get involved in guiding the future of a City on the move, please consider seeking a seat on the Design Advisory Board.  Send your name, contact information, a statement of your interest in the position, and a summary of relevant experience and background to Mayor Elizabeth Gamache by Monday, March 17, 2014 at elizabeth.gamache@gmail.com or P.O. Box 867, St. Albans, VT 05478.
