UPDATE: Downtown Water Shut-Off is Over

COMPLETION: The Downtown Water Shut-Off is over.  Water is back on for the affected properties.  There may be some discoloration at first.  Let it run to clear up.  If you still do not have water, please email c.sawyer@stalbansvt.com immediately.  Thank you.

PREVIOUS UPDATE:  A difficulty with the water main has extended this operation into Tuesday morning.  Sincere apologies to businesses and residents for the inconvenience.  The crews are fixing it as quickly as possible, and we will send out an update with more information on when the water is expected to be turned back on.

The areas affected are:

Main Street (both sides) from Stebbins Street to just south of Twiggs.

Lake Street (both sides) from Main Street to Federal Street.

Federal Street (both sides) from Lake Street to Kingman Street.

Tonight’s shut-off is expected to last roughly 6 hours.

Restaurants and businesses that require water should anticipate an early closure this evening unless other provisions can be made for water.  Please begin monitoring your water situation at 8:30pm tonight to see if you are affected.

Residents are advised to purchase bottled water and have buckets of water handy for flushing toilets overnight.

All users are advised to run their water after it is turned back on to clear up any discoloration that you may experience.

Once again I apologize for the inconvenience and welcome any questions.

Thank you,

Chip Sawyer
