Minute Taker Wanted

The City of St. Albans is seeking a reliable person to write the minutes of City board meetings. The minutes are a summary of the discussions at each meeting and serve as a record of decisions made and actions taken.  This is a part-time position with starting compensation set at $20/hour.

On top of the compensation, this is a great chance to see what many of the City's boards and commissions do for our community!  Anyone interested in local processes and potential board membership in your future should consider this, and you'll get paid for your time!

We have a team of minute takers that cover the City's many monthly board meetings.  The estimated time that you would spend doing minutes is 3-4 hours per board meeting (including attending the meeting itself).  The City normally can make recordings available to you.

WE DO NOT NEED MEETING TRANSCRIPTS.  Typically the City's meeting minutes contain information on who attended, motions and votes that are made, and summaries of topics and comments.

The most important things that the City would need from you are availability, reliable transportation to meetings, and the ability to efficiently produce a set of draft minutes.

To apply, contact Chip Sawyer, Director of Planning & Development at (802) 524-1500 x259 or c.sawyer@stalbansvt.com.  We will want to see a resume and writing sample(s).

Applications accepted until position is filled.
